Political Research Group at GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum 2023
President Liliana Filip of the Political Research Group recently participated in the prestigious GLOBSEC 2023 Bratislava Forum, held from May 29 to May 31. The conference brought together over 1,000 key stakeholders from more than 65 countries to discuss and propose solutions to pressing global challenges.
During the intense and fruitful event, President Filip expressed her admiration for the formation of a beautiful and united transatlantic community, a remarkable achievement for the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. The discussions at GLOBSEC 2023 encompassed a wide range of topics, all interconnected with the urgent needs of the present.
Issues such as Ukraine, energy security, the rise of populism, the impact of emerging technologies, cybersecurity, metaverse, the US elections, united Europe, European security architecture, innovation ecosystems, and the NATO-Vilnius summit and deterrence strategy were deliberated upon. The aim was to identify and propose options to highlight the geopolitical relevance of the CEE region.
The 18th edition of the Bratislava Forum reaffirmed the significance of the CEE region in ensuring global stability amid the current divided world. Against this backdrop, senior-level stakeholders from diverse fields gathered in Bratislava to generate breakthrough ideas and solutions to overcome the numerous challenges defining the changing global order.
The upcoming GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum was guided by three overarching themes: continuing support for Ukraine, resilience of Europe in the face of war, and mitigating the global consequences of the conflict. The Forum facilitated a global dialogue to address economic, energy, and value chain implications.
In addition to the main sessions, the Forum organized various thematic side events and exclusive brainstorming sessions to seek immediate solutions to urgent crises and plan long-term strategies for the future. Each year, hundreds of influential political representatives, business leaders, think tank experts, NGO representatives, international organization heads, thinkers, and innovators gather at the Forum to actively shape the future for present and future generations.
Notable guests who have previously attended GLOBSEC events include world leaders such as Ursula von der Leyen, Emmanuel Macron, and Pope Francis, among others. The Forum consistently garners extensive international media coverage from renowned outlets, ensuring its outcomes reach a global audience.
