Charting a Resilient Future: Insights from the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum 2023
As proud partners with the Euroatlantic Center for Resilience, the Political Research Group was thrilled to contribute to the organization of the second edition of the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum, held on September 28th-29th, 2023.
This yearβs theme, “Resilience at Sea and its Impact on Land,” spotlighted the critical intersection of maritime challenges and their extensive consequences for our global community.
A significant highlight of our involvement this year was the collaboration with the prestigious Hudson Institute to organize the Washington event on the topic πππ―π’π πππ’π§π ππ¨π°ππ«ππ¬ πππ¬π’π₯π’ππ§ππ: ππππ‘π§π¨π₯π¨π π’πππ₯ πππ¦πππ‘ππ ππ«π¬, underscoring our commitment to fostering dialogue on emerging and disruptive technologies. This partnership exemplified our strategic initiative to bridge knowledge and policy gaps in the realm of global resilience.
Expanding the Conversation on Resilience
The innovative approach of the forum, featuring duplex sessions across major cities including New York, Brussels, Kyiv, Vicenza, Lublin, and notably Washington, D.C., facilitated a global exchange of ideas and solutions.
In Washington, the collaboration with the Hudson Institute brought a focused lens on the critical role of technology in shaping future resilience strategies. This session highlighted the urgent need for innovative approaches to safeguard critical infrastructures and ensure the continuity of societal functions in the face of technological disruptions.
Key Themes and Collaborative Efforts
Our discussions spanned a broad spectrum of resilience topics, from global warming and natural disaster mitigation in partnership with the UN in New York, to critical infrastructure resilience in Brussels with the European Parliament, and energy system robustness in Kyiv. The forum’s unique format allowed for in-depth exploration of these issues, with the Washington event shining a spotlight on the potential and challenges posed by emerging technologies.
The dialogues initiated in these sessions are crucial for developing comprehensive strategies to address the multifaceted nature of global resilience challenges. By partnering with the Hudson Institute for the Washington panel, the Political Research Group has furthered its mission to catalyse policy innovation and strengthen international cooperation.
